Pop Haydn's Post-Modern Medicine Show

Pop Haydn's Post-Modern Medicine Show is a live variety show featuring Old Time music, magic, comedy and variety acts with a 1910 sensibility.

The show is modular, and we can size it for a private party, corporate event, or for our full two-hour theatrical show that is put on in a theater setting.

We have done the full show on even a small stage as you can see from the Laugh Factory, Hollywood video of our show below.

This poster on the left is from our show in Moorpark, California at the High Street Theater, a beautifully restored vaudeville theater.

We can do up to a full hour and a half show with just the Medicine Show Band and Pop Haydn, or we can add period variety acts to enlarge the show to fit any situation.

We have very few needs and can adapt the show to almost any situation.

The performers are all top of the line acts that have worked in Las Vegas hotels, cruise ships and nightclubs.

The show is full of music, fun, thrills, amazement and laughs.

We can do a show with just Pop and his comedy and magic and his hysterical medicine pitch.

For a slightly bigger budget, we provide Pop and his saloon Piano player for a more showy and lively performance.

We can also do Pop and the full Medicine Show Band as in the Western-themed private party in Monrovia, California shown at the right.

We can also add other variety acts if the stage space and performance time allows it, like fire-eaters, whip artists, knife-throwers, escape artists, comedians, and musical acts.

Pop has an amazing ability to fit himself into any environment, no matter what the occasion or theme.

A resourceful time-displaced gentleman of 1911, he nevertheless has had time to adjust to the 21st Century and is quite at home here, no matter the situation he finds himself in.

And he makes those around him comfortable as well. Everyone responds to his humor, warmth and sincerity...

Here Pop is at a corporate event in San Francisco, where he pitched the various potions the patrons could imbibe.

Pop is an excellent pitchman, compeer, emcee, announcer or carnival barker.

He has a loud voice and a big personality and the ability to grab and hold a crowd and to get people to pay attention, with or without a microphone.

The Medicine Oil Pitch
This is Pop's Amazing Miracle Oil pitch from the stage at the World Steam Expo, a national steampunk convention, held in Dearborn, Michigan.

Pop's 1890's Gold Rush style, his time-displaced character, his fabulous radio-magnetic contraptions, and his comedy and magic all make him perfect for steampunk oriented events, but as a time-challenged refugee who has been living in the 21st Century for some time, he fits in just as well to any theme and era.

His medicine pitch does not make fun of the medicine men of the past, but rather is based on the television, print, and radio ads for medicine today.

Magic Castle, Hollywood

Pop has organized the entertainment for the Soapy Smith Night fundraiser at the Magic Castle for the last eight years.

He provides the Medicine Show Band, the gambling tables and dealers from Tombstone, Arizona, Chef Anton's Trick Shot show, and all the other entertainment.

The environment and the fun, and the delightful atmosphere of a Gold Rush saloon creates one of the premier events at the Magic Castle each year.
